Quartz is a man-made, highly durable stone. It is made up of natural silicon dioxide and synthetic materials, with approximately 93% consisting of loose quartz. It is then blended with a binder and pigment to give the appearance of natural stone such as granite or marble. Quartz is available in a wide variety of colors.

Quartz is hard and less prone to denting and chipping than many natural stones do to its flexible nature. However, high heat should be avoided since its resins can melt, altering appearance.

Benefits Include:

  • Durability: Quartz countertops are extremely durable and resistant to scratches, chips, and cracks. They can easily withstand daily wear and tear without losing their original appearance.
  • Stain Resistance: Quartz is non-porous, which prevents liquids like wine, coffee, or oil from penetrating the surface, making it stain resistant and easier to clean and maintain.
  • Hygienic: Due to its non-porous nature, quartz is highly resistant to bacteria and mold growth. It provides a safe and hygienic surface for food preparation and is an excellent choice for kitchen countertops.
  • Variety of Colors and Patterns: Quartz countertops come in a wide range of colors, patterns, and finishes, allowing homeowners to find a look that matches their style and complements their existing décor.
  • Heat Resistance: While excessive heat can damage any countertop surface, quartz is resistant to heat.  Quartz varieties are generally rated to withstand heat up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit without getting damaged or discolored.
  • Low Maintenance: Quartz countertops require minimal maintenance. Regular cleaning with mild soap and water is generally sufficient to keep them looking beautiful. Additionally, quartz does not require sealing as it is already non-porous.
  • Uniform Appearance: Unlike natural stones such as granite, quartz countertops have a uniform and consistent appearance. This makes it easier to match and ensures that the countertop you choose will resemble the sample you saw in the showroom.
  • Longevity: Quartz is known for its long lifespan. When properly cared for, quartz countertops can last for decades without losing their original beauty and functionality.
  • Resistant to Chemicals: Quartz surfaces are highly resistant to chemical damage from household cleaners, acids, and solvents. This makes it a suitable choice for countertops in bathrooms and laundry rooms.
  • Increased Home Value: Quartz countertops are an attractive feature that many homebuyers seek. Installing quartz countertops can enhance the value of your home and make it more desirable to potential buyers.
